Welcome to the Papamoa Cricket Club, I would like to personally thank each and everyone of you for registering with PCC as either a player, parent or supporter. On the eve of the senior club’s season I thought it was timely to connect with you all and say how blown away I am by the support of the wider Papamoa community of this new cricket club. Just over a month ago we held our AGM and if you had of said that we would have over 100 members at the start of the season I would have said that you were dreaming. Today we sit at 136 registered players of all ages and over 270 connections whether parents, players or sponsors. A fantastic achievement without a ball bowled, and to my reckoning we have become the second largest cricket club in the Bay of Plenty vindicating the decision to create a club focused on the Papamoa community.
As you all know the success of any club is its people, and without you and your positive engagement we would not be in the exciting position that we are today. It is important that we acknowledge the work of the committee who have put in numerous hours to get us to this point. I would like to personally acknowledge the work of the team behind the scenes to ensure that we can provide a product that we can be proud of. If you would like to assist the team with coaching or management I am sure that you will be very welcomed.
In our inaugural season we have attracted a fantastic sponsor in Papa Mo’s. Luke and the team at Papa Mo’s have got right behind our club and what we are trying to create. As our first naming sponsor I would like to encourage you to all visit his family friendly establishment. They serve fantastic food and beverages and probably have one of the best views of the water from their balcony. In catching up with Luke today we will be releasing a cool player of the day certificate for our younger members so watch this space.
With all the excitement happening it is timely to remind everyone that the successful club doesn’t just happen, it comes down to several factors. A good product, community engagement, financial stability and in my opinion, love of the game. Lastly thank you to the 1st XI, the first 11 people who have signed up as foundation members. Foundation membership is something that only ever comes up at the beginning of a club, and something that will be remembered for the lifespan of the club. We aim to immortalize the foundation members as we grow our club. Initially they will be recognized on our website and at formal events. As we grow and potentially build facilities we will acknowledge them on a plaque on Alice Johnson Oval either housed externally or internally in a pavilion. If you would like to become a foundation member please register via our website. From as little as $100.00 (please feel free to donate more if you wish) you will be noted and acknowledge as a foundation member of the Papamoa Cricket Club.

Have a great long weekend, feel free to come down to Alice Johnson Oval, Gordon Spratt Reserve or Fergusson Park to support the B Grades Men’s teams playing this weekend, games kick off at 1PM. Or even better still come and have a brew at the after match at Papa Mo’s we will be there after the games on Saturday evenings.
