Senior Captains Named
Hello all,
Thank you for those of you who completed the player survey. The data collected helps the senior committee plan for the up and coming season. We are now in the position to name the team Captains for the 2019/20 season, and it’s with great pleasure I announce the following captaincy positions:
- Reserves Captain: Paul Inglis
- Reserves Vice-Captain: Aaron Barbour
- B Grade Captain: Marc Rolleston
- B Grade Vice-Captain: Brad Harding
- Wanderers Captain: Ashley Williamson
The captains and I will form the selection committee for the summer. Please ensure you keep the captains aware of your availability. We have created an availability form to make this easy and this will be sent through via the normal channels shortly. This will enable us to prevent late withdrawals putting undue pressure on all those involved.
The following selection criteria will be taken into consideration to ensure fairness across the club teams:
- Financial members will be given priority (Fully paid first)
- Represents the culture of Papamoa Cricket Club
- Communication
- Form
- Attitude
- Team Balance
- Training Attendance
- Fitness
The selection committee will be responsible for communicating the sides was early in the week as possible, ideally before the Thursday training. Communication will be made by each captain to both the selected and unselected players.
It must be recognised that sometimes the above criteria is not compatible with all selections and that balancing them may be different for each XI. The selection committee will act with the clubs best interests at heart as we wish to build on the successful culture started last summer. Anyone wishing to raise concerns regarding selection or omission, may do so at any stage with myself or any of the senior leadership team.
This year we are adding a Coaching Supporting group. The role of this group to assist in running a more structured training session and be a support for those who want to improve their skills. During training, feel free to speak with the group about anything in your game you need some help with.

Training sessions during pre season are Sundays from 4PM to 6PM at the Bay Indoor Centre and closer to the summer we will announce outdoor training times. During the summer we will resume Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Alice Johns Oval Nets.
