About Us

Pāpāmoa Cricket Club (PCC) has been formed to help provide cricket to the wider Pāpāmoa community. Situated at Alice Johnson Oval on Doncaster Drive the dedicated cricket oval services our community supported by several artificial cricket wickets on the neighboring Gordon Spratt Reserve. It is the club's aim to provide cricket for all levels through WBOPCA and BOPCA sanctioned competitions and initiatives with a strong focus on providing a lifelong cricket experience for its members.

PCC was established on the 11th of August 2017 and today comprises of junior cricketers from the 5 contributing Schools in the area. Before its establishment, junior cricketers were only represented from Pāpāmoa Primary and Pāpāmoa College as independent sides, with all other cricketers aligned with Mount Maunganui and Te Puke Cricket Clubs. In previous years senior cricket teams have operated in Pāpāmoa but until 2017 the club was not a registered society.

In PCC’s inaugural season 2018/19 the club fielded 12 Junior/Intermediate/College (including one female) along with 3 senior men’s sides. PCC established funding and sponsorship income streams to enable the club's financial stability to promote and provide access to cricket in the Pāpāmoa region. The club experienced success on the field by winning the prized McNaughton Trophy from a team selected from its combined 3 senior men’s b-grade side.

    The Alice Johnson Oval:

The Alice Johnson Oval, the home of PCC comprised of a grass wicket block with 5 strips with an artificial wicket neighboring the block, a couch outfield and bund surrounded boundary. This all provides a unique cricket field that has little impact from other codes across the year. In addition, PCC has invested significantly in the expansion of training nets during the 2019/20 season to provide one of the best training facilities available. These nets are available to the public and are constantly used by our community outside of scheduled training hours. Future planning in partnership with Tauranga City Council has begun for the construction of a shared pavilion that services Alice Johnson Oval with funding set aside in 2022-23.
